MHC Students & All Saints' Church

Before there was an All Saints' Church, there was an Episcopal campus ministry on the very same site. For more than 60 years, Mount Holyoke College students have been gathering here, sharing fun, fellowship, and faith journeys. In addition to welcoming college students to join in any part of parish life (service projects, singing with the choir, and the pet blessing are favorites), All Saints' now has three opportunities to connect that have been created specifically for MHC students: Midnight Breakfast; Come for Supper, Stay to Be Fed; and 5 College Common Cup.

Midnight Breakfast

All Saints initiated a midnight pancake breakfast for Mount Holyoke students on the night before finals in December 2011. It has grown astronomically, becoming our most successful outreach program, and has now been replicated by other parishes. In year 1, we served 287 students. We’ve been breaking our record ever since. By last year, students were lined up all the way out the door! We served more than a quarter of the studentbody (586 last semester) pancakes, sausages (veggie ones, too), coffee, juice, and the opportunity to relax, laugh and feel cared for. Seniors shared they were sad this would be their last midnight breakfast. A junior said this is her favorite night of the entire year. An underclasswoman remarked on the sharp contrast between Kidder Hall, filled with students laughing, hugging and chattering, and the silent (or not so silent) stress in the library. Volunteers set up in advance, set tables, pour pitches of water, quarter oranges, cook, serve, and clean up. Students are welcomed between 10pm and 1am, on a predetermined date each May (usually the first Thursday) and December (usually the second Thursday). Guaranteed to be one of the best feel-good evenings of your life. Check our our Midnight Breakfast news coverage!

5 College Common Cup

Since 2014, All Saints' Church has partnered with St. John's Church in Northampton and Grace Church in Amherst to create an Episcopal campus ministry called 5 College Common Cup. Our vision is one large campus ministry, sponsored by three parishes, serving five colleges, with events taking place on each campus and at each church. Right now we have established weekly lunch gatherings at Mount Holyoke and Hampshire Colleges, and are in the process of expanding to the other campuses. We will also offer annual joint service projects and retreats, as well as an opportunity to gather online with others to pray Compline at the close of the day. Be sure to like our Facebook page and/or email us to get connected and join in the conversation as it becomes a movement!
